Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins signed goaltender Scott Munroe to a one-year, two-way contract Wednesday. Munroe played last season with Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik of the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia, but spent parts of the previous five seasons in the American Hockey League with the Philadelphia Phantoms and Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The 29-year-old has appeared in 174 career AHL games, compiling an 83-64-11 record with a 2.60 goals-against average and 13 shutouts.

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins added defensive depth on Sunday, signing Boris Valabik to a one-year, two-way contract. Valabik, 25, will be paid $550,000 at the NHL level. The native of Slovakia spent last season in the American Hockey League, split between the Thrashers' affiliate in Chicago and the Bruins' farm club in Providence.
