Two teams share CVS Charity Classic lead

06/28/2010 - Barrington, RI (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Hunter Mahan teamed with Suzann Pettersen to post a 10-under 61 Monday, which gave them a share of the lead after the first round of the CVS Caremark Charity Classic at Rhode Island Country Club.

They were joined atop the leaderboard by Boo Weekley and Hall-of-Famer Juli Inkster.

Five teams are tied for third place at eight-under 63. Among that group is Rickie Fowler and Brad Faxon, who is the co-founder of this tournament.

The top two teams could make history in this event on Tuesday as no co-ed team has ever won this title.

Weekley and Inkster birdied back-to-back holes from the fourth and again from the ninth. They poured in three straight birdies from the 11th to move to seven-under. They also birdied three of the last four holes, including the final two, to be the first group in at minus-10.

"I enjoy playing with the guys," said Inkster. "We don't get to do it much. It was just a really enjoyable round."

Pettersen and Mahan had four birdies and an eagle on the front nine to turn in six-under. They birdied the 12th and 13th before also closing with birdies on the final two holes to share the lead.

Fowler and Faxon were joined at minus-eight by the teams of Billy Andrade/Bill Haas, Camilo Villegas/Bubba Watson, Ricky Barnes/J.B. Holmes and Angela Stanford/Brett Quigley.

The teams played better-ball partners on Monday and will follow the same format on Tuesday.
